This study reviews previous cycles of normalization with the Israeli regime in order to identify how these cycles differ from the Abraham Accords, and to examine the fundamental objectives of the Accords as well as their implications for the security complex of West Asia. The findings show that, unlike earlier normalization processes, the Abraham Accords are not merely a regional trend; rather, they constitute a regional–extra-regional macro-trend with a significant capacity to reshape the regional security order. On the one hand, the Accords can function as the final cycle of normalization with the Israeli regime in West Asia; on the other hand, they serve to facilitate the expansion of the United States’ global influence. Accordingly, beyond their regional dimension, the Abraham Accords possess strong interregional and global aspects and can be understood as a geopolitical project involving active engagement at the global level. The symbolic accession of Kazakhstan to the Accords, along with efforts to attract other states from Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and South Asia, indicates that the Abraham Accords are increasingly becoming a strategic instrument for the United States to bring its allies together across a vast geographical space and to shape a U.S.-aligned “super-regional security complex” consistent with Washington’s interests.
