Abstract

The current research aims to explain Sadeq's promise as the creator of a new situation in the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Zionist regime. Operation True Promise, which happened in response to the Zionist regime's attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran's consulate in Syria, changed the course of four decades of relations between the Islamic Republic and the Zionist regime, and is considered the first official attack of the Islamic Republic on the Zionist regime after the strategy of strategic patience. . Until this operation, the doctrine of deterrence of the Islamic Republic was based on the principle that if an aggression by the Zionist regime is directed at Iran, although Iran may also suffer damage, the Islamic Republic will mark the end of the war. Based on the theoretical framework of realism in international relations, the Operation of True Promise showed that the country's defense doctrine against the Zionist regime can be upgraded from a regretful response and changed to the "uncalculability" and consequently the "unmanageability" of Iran's behavior. Based on the experience of Sadiq's promise, after any aggression against Iran, the Zionist regime should expect behavior outside the usual rules of the game. In the face of the Zionist regime, it can strengthen and improve the deterrence of the Islamic Republic.
